Harpist Hee Jin Yoon is very active as a soloist, orchestra musician, chamber musician, and teacher in Southern California. She is Founder/Executive Director of the California Youth Harp Ensemble and the California Youth Harp Competition. She is co-founder of Flute and Harp Duo Dolce and Duo Gliss Harp Duo.
Yoon was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and she grew up in Seoul, Korea, and she received a bachelor’s degree from the Seoul National University in harp performance. She came back to the United States and earned a Master of Music degree and doctorate studies from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music, as a student of Gillian Benet Sella. She also received a Performer Diploma from the Indiana University with the distinguished professor, Susann McDonald. She has won multiple competitions and awards in Korea and the USA, including the Salvi Awards and the Busan MBC Broadcast Competition. She has performed as a soloist with Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, and CCM Philharmonic Orchestra.
Yoon was principal harpist of Lancaster Festival Orchestra from 2008 to 2015 and has played in the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, and many other orchestras in California. She has performed at Redlands, CA, for the American Harp Society Conference 2018 and Logan, Utah, for the American Harp Society Summer Institute 2015.
Ms. Yoon has passion for teaching and educational outreach programs and has maintained her private teaching studio since 2007. She continues her career as a harpist to share her music with colleagues, audiences, composers, and students.
