Eligibility: Open to violinists, cellists, and pianists of ages 9-25. Younger exceptional students may be accepted with the Director's permission.

Amici Chamber Music Competition Application

Average age of the group members as of February 1, 2023 (i.e. 10+11+10=10.33, Category A).
Category A: 10 & under (Time limit: 7 min.), $45 per ensemble member
Category B: 12 & under (Time limit: 7 min.), $45 per ensemble member
Category C: 14 & under (Time limit: 7 min.), $45 per ensemble member
Category D: 16 & under (Time limit: 10 min.), $50 per ensemble member
Category E: 18 & under (Time limit: 10 min.), $50 per ensemble member
AWARDS
Trophies and invitation to perform at the Winners Showcase Concert at Daniel Recital Hall, California State University of Long Beach on Sunday, March 12th, 2023, 6 PM
1st Place winners will also be given a masterclass opportunity with Professor Joon Sung Jun on the day of the competition at 5 PM.

First Place: $1000 scholarship (per group) for 2023 Amici International Music Festival

Rules & Guidelines
This competition is open to all small chamber music ensembles composed of two to five performers. Only one piano student is permitted per Instrumental Ensemble. Instrumental Ensembles are chamber ensembles, defined as one person per instrument part.
Any standard, published ensemble piece movement. Multi-movements will be accepted if they can be performed within the given time limit.

- Age is determined by the application deadline (February 5, 2023). The applicants have to submit a proof of age (a copy of driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, etc.).
- The performers can use music during the event and a published copy of the chosen piece has to be presented at the time of the competition. No photocopies will be accepted.
- There will be a minimum of one First place winner, one Second place winner and one Third place winner selected from each category at judges’ discretion. All place winners will be required to perform at the Winners Showcase Concert on March 12, 2023. Students of the judges will not be allowed to compete and the judges’ decisions are final.
- All winners agree to allow their names, photographs and video files to be used in connection with the competition as publicity for Barum Music Foundation and Amici Summer Music Festival.
- There are NO REFUNDS of application fees in the event of non-participation.
- The competition winners must attend the 2023 Amici International Summer Music Festival in order to receive the announced scholarship. Due to the instrumentation offered at the festival, this special award is applicable to piano and strings students only. If all of the ensemble members cannot attend, a partial scholarship will be awarded.
